New Bonnie Chapa Art: “Here To Stay”

Written by Bonnie Chapa on . Posted in Bonnie's Art Gallery

Created from an original photo taken by Bonnie Feaster Chapa May 2014, in Troy, Texas.

There is something about this bird.

Rising above the thorny harsh mesquite out in that Texas pasture.

He was there by himself and he flew from spot to spot but always watched us out there on those 4 wheelers and I, there with my camera.

There is so much more to this story….creative clog sucks.  Nothing was coming out the way I wanted it.  I would try and try and get discouraged knowing eventually it would come, but this bird…..he knows.  I poured it all in there and he came flying out saying, “Tough, thorny, sharp, loud, out there, different, alone…whatever it is….you can’t knock me off my branch.  I’m here to stay.”

Special thanks to my long time friend Tonya Sacket for allowing my boys and I to come out and play.  We were chasing sunsets and bluebonnets before they were gone.  We had so much fun that day.

If it’s just killing ya to know what kind of bird this is, you can read all about it by clicking the link below 🙂

New Bonnie Chapa Art: “Floating In Yellow”

Written by Bonnie Chapa on . Posted in Bonnie's Art Gallery

As soon as I saw this little boy, I immediately thought of the little girl in “Floating In Pink” I had done a couple of years before.  Just as she was at the time, he was casually floating in his yellow tube, not a care in the world.  Both he and she are seemingly able to take command of their space.  Yellow is the color of sunshine. It’s associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. When I saw him floating there, that is exactly what I saw.  Floating in yellow sunshine.  Happy.

For my great niece Aubreigh Evaire.
The day she was born, there were butterflies everywhere.
She was born with a smile that would melt your heart.
Loved her like a Flutterby from the very start.

New Bonnie Chapa Art: “Del Sol Sobre El Rio Frio”

On a trip to the Frio River, we went to Leakey, Tx and there you were….hung on a wall outside a little store. Vulnerable.
My first thought, I wondered why someone hasn’t taken my sunshine away. Let it hang there forever as a landmark each time I return, when my skies are gray. You never know dear, how much I love you, De Sol Sobre El Rio Frio. Please don’t take my sunshine away.
